Learning as a priority

In 2022, partner organizations expanded their work with governments committed to student learning outcomes through the following programs: Educar pra Valer, Collaborative Literacy Program (PARC), Impulsionar, Formar, and Plantar Educação, spanning the nation with coverage in 22 states.

We also inaugurated the first year of a strategy that puts adolescents at the center of their learning process. And MegaEdu supported our efforts on school connectivity to offer high-quality personalized learning solutions to more schools more quickly. The number of adequate internet connections in public schools for pedagogical use increased from 25,000 to 47,000—an 88% increase.

Equity at the heart of learning

Data generation

Ethnic-racial snapshot in the applied assessments. The snapshot serves to generate data for designing more effective strategies to reduce inequalities.

Anti-racist initiatives in education networks

Municipal and state networks with support for developing anti-racist training strategies for teachers and for the production of didactic materials focused on racial equity.

Prioritizing historically marginalized students

Black and Indigenous students prioritized in learning-recovery actions.

Plantar Educação marked 2022 as its first year in five municipal education networks in the Amazon: Itacoatiara, Manicoré, and São Sebastião do Uatumã in the state of Amazonas (AM); and Moju and Ulianópolis in the state of Pará (PA). Four of those networks are already implementing classroom actions, such as valuing traditional knowledge and developing an engaged school community with a focus on the rainforest sustainability agenda.

Supports departments of education in creating actions and public policies to foster the conservation of the Amazon’s forests by advancing integral educational performance.

We have gained valuable lessons and reflections on what it means to do education in a country as diverse as Brazil. Our partnerships with the departments of education have enabled us to show others that being from the Amazon means wealth, pride, and power, which forms the core starting point and substance of our pedagogical work.
