Learning as a priority

In 2022, partner organizations expanded their work with governments committed to student learning outcomes through the following programs: Educar pra Valer, Collaborative Literacy Program (PARC), Impulsionar, Formar, and Plantar Educação, spanning the nation with coverage in 22 states.

We also inaugurated the first year of a strategy that puts adolescents at the center of their learning process. And MegaEdu supported our efforts on school connectivity to offer high-quality personalized learning solutions to more schools more quickly. The number of adequate internet connections in public schools for pedagogical use increased from 25,000 to 47,000—an 88% increase.

Ethnic-racial snapshot in the applied assessments. The snapshot serves to generate data for designing more effective strategies to reduce inequalities.

Anti-racist initiatives in education networks

Municipal and state networks with support for developing anti-racist training strategies for teachers and for the production of didactic materials focused on racial equity.

Prioritizing historically marginalized students

Black and Indigenous students prioritized in learning-recovery actions.

In 2022, 25 new education networks joined the Educar pra Valer (EpV). Among them, capital cities like Salvador in the state of Bahia (BA) and cities like Timon in the state of Maranhão (MA) – one of which won the “Dignified School Award” (“Prêmio Escola Digna”) given by the state government.

EpV gives technical assistance to municipalities to support their implementing good management practices focused on producing the education and development of all students. The initiative was inspired by the globally recognized model that revolutionized education in the city of Sobral in the state of Ceará (CE).

The National Educar pra Valer Seminar was a time for the teams and managers of 50 partner networks from every corner of Brazil to share exchanges and make connections. The fact that it was held in Sobral is symbolic. We gave our partners the opportunity to truly understand this city’s policies, visit schools, and discuss central topics to promote literacy at the right age.

Since 2019, the structured material and continuous training we’ve received from the program helped us attain an aligned education network. We even added quality meals, transportation, and a bonus policy that values education professionals. In the last year, we earned the best Basic Education Development Index (IDEB) in the state of Paraíba (PB) in the 1st to 5th grades and took fourth in the 6th to 9th grades.
