Leaders committed to a more just country and a more efficient public sector

In 2022, we continued with our partners in the mission to recognize, connect, develop, and value people who are leading or have the potential to use their talents to combat inequalities and engender social transformation.

To this end, we expanded the leadership development opportunities offered by the Brazilian third sector, promoted the focus on racial equity, developed assessments, and mobilized resources. The goal is to boost the ability of more and more leaders representative of the country’s diversity to make significant contributions.

We also focused on people management training in the public sector by investing in partnerships with organizations specialized in stimulating innovative policies for attracting, selecting, developing, and retaining leaders committed to an efficient Brazil.

Innovative policies in people management in the public sector

Implementing good people management policies in the public sector is necessary to achieve social transformation. The policies should focus on attracting, preparing, and retaining leaders committed to a more efficient and qualified country that responds to the needs of society and its citizens. That will only happen by investing in key points for developing historically marginalized groups, primarily Black people and women.

In collaborating with partner organizations to accomplish this goal, we agreed on two major priorities: a thematic focus on a National Policy for Leadership in Governments and a focus on actions that prioritize political advocacy.

In 2022, public leader work was strengthened in six partner states and six partner municipalities, in partnership with Gesto and Vector. Additionally, data on public leadership positions at the state, municipal, and federal levels were mapped, and information was missing on race and gender. That supported us in determining that data and information production will be focused actions in 2023.
