For a Brazil that does not squander the potential of the majority of its people

In 2022, the Lemann Foundation doubled down on our mission to unleash the potential of our people and reoriented our action strategy to make decisive strides in that direction. Over the next decade, our focus will be on universalizing literacy at the right age; recovering the learning losses suffered during the pandemic – especially by children from historically marginalized groups; nurturing and connecting an influential group of diverse and representative leaders; and guaranteeing effective public service through people management.

We are part of an ecosystem aiming to transform the country

Brazil needs profound transformation to address systemic issues and historical challenges. Our role is to leverage the third sector’s capacity for making a positive impact. We do that by strengthening, intensifying, and accelerating the government’s work in solving major social challenges. Therefore, we work by communicating and collaborating, promoting strengthened visions and contributions toward a commitment we all share. That way, we can do more for more people.

Ecosystem and strategy

We drive an impact ecosystem

We have no doubt: people are Brazil's most precious asset. And building a country for everyone demands the participation of many. Therefore, we collaborate with an ecosystem of civil society organizations, governments and public managers, researchers, leaders, and universities committed to guaranteeing an education for all students and supporting the longevity of engaged leaders that face Brazil’s social challenges head-on.

Since 2017, we began making it a priority to break down structural racism in our processes, practices, and relationships with partners. In 2022, we focused our efforts on consolidating strategies to advance our goals with racial equity in the coming years. By outlining common goals, the ecosystem mobilized and planned to work with racial equity as a central cause.

In 2022, the Foundation took on the role of driving a social-impact ecosystem. An ecosystem with a united ambition—to transform Brazil through quality education and engaged leadership—but with the autonomy that the social field needs for its cultures, diversity, and dialogue to flourish.

Dealing with Brazilian educational challenges requires a systemic approach. Annual Meeting

Brazil, with the power of our people

The 2022 Lemann Foundation Annual Meeting gathered more than 400 leaders committed to Brazil. Most of them are members of the Lemann Foundation Leaders Network and connected with organizations associated with the Lemann Foundation or its partners, as well as academics, public managers, and specialists. In addition to making connections, they could make their voices and perspectives be heard in the debate around how Brazil can advance its development agenda in a way that focuses on the potential of its people.

Governments strengthened to guarantee education

In 2022, we supported partner organizations to strengthen their activities with the departments of education for creating and implementing policies focused on educating all children and adolescents.
